Level 1 Health Navigation Fundamentals Online


Health Navigation Fundamentals will improve your basic patient navigation skills. This comprehensive course is an introductory “Level 1” training for those who want to gain skills and knowledge of the history of patient navigation, communication strategies, health promotion and professional boundaries.

This 8-week virtual course will include both online coursework (reading, quizzes, assignments) as well as 1-hour Live Learning Sessions weekly via Zoom. Time commitment per week is about 2-3 hours. Basic computer skills and webcam are recommended for best experience.

Ideal for

Patient Navigators, Community Health Workers, Care Coordinators, Promoters de Salud.

What to Expect

This course is instructor-led with one live learning session (LLS) per week. You will complete weekly homework before attending each LLS. The live sessions will be interactive with both large and small group activities. We ask that you participate in the live learning sessions by video to connect with your peers.

Successful Completion

To earn a Certificate of Completion, you must:

  • Attend 6 of 8 live learning sessions
  • Complete 80% of homework assignments in Brightspace
  • Complete the post-course evaluation
