Region 8 Public Health Leadership Institute for Systems Change

The Region 8 Public Health Leadership Institute for Systems Change is an opportunity for public health professionals to grow their knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to excel in public health leadership roles. This six-month program offers a dynamic learning experience, combining facilitated and interactive live sessions with subject matter experts, small group coaching with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, self-paced learning, and the opportunity to apply systems thinking skills to a complex challenge facing your community.

This Leadership Institute is focused on systems change. During the Institute, you will be asked to identify a challenge impacting the health of the community your organization serves. Often, these challenges have already been identified and are outlined in your organization’s Strategic Plan or a Community or State Health Assessment. Through this Institute, we will be focused on building the skills needed to address complex challenges - the recurring or entrenched issues that inhibit our community’s ability to reach its highest level of health. During the Institute, we will seek to gain a deep understanding of the challenge, see the challenge from different perspectives, and change elements of the system (policies, practices, resources, relationships, power, and mental models) to produce improved health outcomes.

Participants in the Region 8 Leadership Institute will collectively grow in leadership competencies, cultivate their capacity to influence systems change, and build their network of peer leaders.
